Inside of us, there lies a spring

A stream of life neverending

Deep divides and driest days

Cannot stymie the waterway

Dive inside—abandon dock

And, in time, you’ll cut through rock

This Time

This time, someone else’s night

Won’t keep me from my moon

This time, the sun will sing me songs

Each day she’ll give me June

This time, when I’m falling

I’m only rising up

This time, when I’m pouring

I’ll drink from both our cups

This time, I won’t be paying

No matter what the cost

This time, when I find it

I’m never getting lost

This time, I’ve got a place to land

Before I take the leap

This time, when I roll the die

It’ll be for keeps

I See Myself

I see myself on every street

Each pair of brightly sneakered feet

Each warm hand clasping onto love

Each bareboned branch trembling above

Faith

Of all the ends

And all the starts

And every in-between

I asked the moon

To give me faith

And here is what I gleaned:

She lured the waves

To sandy shores

And set the wind at ease

She asked me, she said,

‘Go to water

Wade out past your knees.’

Beyond the breaks

Close to my heart

The peaks and troughs grew wider

I balanced on my tippy toes

As though on a wire

Standing up

Against the waves

I swallowed my own wraith

Surrendering

To something else

Now that was having faith

Lar

The moon told me you’re never far

‘Tween who you’ll be, and who you are

Should you need rest, her door’s ajar

And she shall watch you, as a lar

Altitude

Twenty thousand feet above

His life and how it seems

Somewhere between the moon and clouds

Is where he’s hid his dreams

Go Down Swinging

You and me, we’re still a team

We’re playing through this weather

With wide eyes stinging, we’ll go down swinging

We’ll end this game together

Surrender

I’ve decided to surrender

I’ve decided to let go

I’ve decided to relinquish fear

That blocks energy’s flow

I’ve decided to give in

I’ve decided to move out

I’ve decided there’s a lot to life

That I can live without

I’ve decided to grow down

I’ve decided to get free

I’ve decided self-will isn’t all

That it’s cracked up to be

I’ve decided to be fluid

I’ve decided to find centre

I’ve decided to let go

I’ve decided to surrender

Plummy

This is the first day

This is the ripest plum

This day pierces the ruby skin

Of all the rest to come

Go to Water

She told me, ‘Go to water’

What I found were icy sheaths

Shifting plates of paradigms

But we were still one, underneath
